What is the meaning of the word Aqidah?

Linguistically Aqidah is the firm belief of any matter regardless is it true or false

The word Aqidah, as an Islamic term, means the firm belief of the existence of Allah, the Angels, the heavenly books, the messengers of Allah, the day of Judgement and fate and Destiny.

What is the source of the Islamic Aqidah?

The only source of the Islamic Aqidah is the Noble Quran and the Authenticated prophetic Hadeeth.

Allah (SWT) says in the Quran

(يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ ءَامِنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَٱلۡكِتَٰبِ ٱلَّذِي نَزَّلَ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ وَٱلۡكِتَٰبِ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنزَلَ مِن قَبۡلُۚ وَمَن يَكۡفُرۡ بِٱللَّهِ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتِهِۦ وَكُتُبِهِۦ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِ فَقَدۡ ضَلَّ ضَلَٰلَۢا بَعِيدًا)

(النساء -136)

136You who believe, believe in Allah and His Messenger and in the Scripture He sent down to His Messenger, as well as what He sent down before. Anyone who does not believe in Allah, His angels, His Scriptures, His messengers, and the Last Day has gone far, far astray. (4-136)

(وَمَآ ءَاتَىٰكُمُ ٱلرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَىٰكُمۡ عَنۡهُ فَٱنتَهُواْۚ) 

(الحشر -7)

 so accept whatever the Messenger gives you, and abstain from whatever he forbids you.(  (59-7)

It is reported that Angel Jebril came to the prophet and asked him about Iman and the prophet replied saying

to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the day of judgement and the destiny whether the destined is good or evil.

It is the belief in the existence of messengers sent by God Almighty to guide humanity, and that they are infallible in conveying the message of God Almighty.

5. Belief in the Last Day:

It is the belief that there is life after death, that people will be held accountable for their actions in this world, and that there is a Heaven and a Hell.

6. Belief in Destiny, Its good and evil:

It is the belief that everything happens by the will of God Almighty, that God Almighty is the creator of good and evil, and that a Muslim must be satisfied with God’s decree and destiny.
