Surah Quraish is one of the most important surahs of Al-Mufassal and the majority of scholars consider it a Meccan surah, the most important of which is Ibn Abbas. It is the twenty-ninth surah in terms of the order of revelation and was revealed before Surah Al-Qari’ah and after Surah At-Tin. It has four verses. Understanding Surah Quraish

The Quraish tribe gained a great position among all the Arab tribes after the Elephant Incident, when Allah SWT protected the Sacred House from the corrupt aggressors led by Abraha the Abyssinian. This increased the value and status of Quraish and made everyone from the Arab tribes respect its people and encouraged the spread of trade. Based on its status, it organized two trips, one to Yemen in the south in the winter, and a trip to the Levant in the summer. Theft was widespread before that and many raids occurred on trade caravans, but the sanctity of the Sacred House and the status of Quraish made the region safe and secure.

The caravans achieved a lot of profits and increased livelihood, so this became a habit among the infidels of Quraish, and all of this was from the great grace of Allah upon His servants, and therefore Allah says in this Surah

«لِإيلافِ قُرَيشٍ* إيلافِهِم رِحلَةَ الشِّتاءِ وَالصَّيفِ * فَليَعبُدوا رَبَّ هذَا البَيتِ* الَّذي أَطعَمَهُم مِن جوعٍ وَآمَنَهُم مِن خَوفٍ»

Li-‘īlāfi Quraish (1) ‘Īlāfihim riḥlata ash-shitā’i wa-aṣ-ṣayf (2) Falyabudū rabba hādhā al-bayt (3) Alladhī aṭ‘amahum min jū‘in wa-āmānahum min khawf (4).

For the security of Quraish. Their security in the journeys of winter and summer. Let them worship the Lord of this House, who has fed them against hunger and made them safe from fear.

These verses mean that the Quraish tribe used to trade safely and Allah SWT fed them after they were hungry, so they must believe in Allah SWT and worship Him truly. He is the one who bestowed upon them these many blessings and fed them after hunger and made them feel secure and protected them. This is one of the great benefits of Surah Quraish.

Benefits of Reciting Surah Quraish

If we wanted to talk about the great benefits of Surah Quraish, the lines would not be enough because we are talking about the words of Allah. No matter how much we understand of the meanings, there will remain a lot and a lot that we do not know, so we should invest our time in understanding the verses and contemplating them so that we can achieve the maximum possible benefit.

1- Spiritual Benefits

One of the most important surah Quraish benefits is that it calls us to strengthen our relationship with Allah SWT, for He is the Bestower of blessings, and He is able to solve all your problems and pains. So if you are afraid of the future and carry a lot of worries, all you have to do is pray to Him until He replaces your fear with security.

عنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: “مَنْ قَرَأَ حَرْفًا مِنْ كِتَابِ اللهِ فَلَهُ حَسَنَةٌ، وَالْحَسَنَةُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا، لَا أَقُولُ (الم) حَرْفٌ، وَلَكِنْ أَلِفٌ حَرْفٌ، وَلَامٌ حَرْفٌ، وَمِيمٌ حَرْفٌ”. رواه الترمذي.

On the authority of Ibn Mas‘ūd, he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

“Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah will receive a reward, and the reward will be multiplied tenfold. I do not say that (Alif Lām Mīm) is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lām is a letter, and Mīm is a letter.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi.

2- Protection and Blessings

This appears in Surah Quraish where the infidels began sending trade caravans in the winter and clear weather, and this was impossible before due to the many raids, but when Allah SWT wants something, He only says to it, “Be,” and it is, so Mecca became safe and secure, and the livelihood expanded and the blessing increased. Allah protected His Sacred House, and thus security, tranquility, and protection were achieved in the country, and this is one of the most important surah Quraish benefits.

3- Virtues of surah quraish

The benefits and virtues of Surah Quraish are many in terms of providing security, safety, and protection for the people of the country, facilitating their affairs, and expanding their livelihood. The credit for all of this goes to Allah alone, and there is great merit in reading any surah of the Quran, including Surah Quraish, as the Prophet, PBUH, told us that whoever reads the Holy Quran and it is difficult for him will receive the reward for reading and the reward for hardship and fatigue in it. Also, the one who is skilled in reading the Quran will have the status of the honorable and righteous scribes on the Day of Resurrection.

4- Surah Quraish benefits for marriage

One of the benefits of Surah Quraish is that it expands livelihood by showing the importance of thanking Allah for His blessings. If a person thanks Allah a lot and is grateful for His many blessings, all his wishes will come true, including marriage. However, a Muslim must, along with increasing obedience and reciting the Qur’an, strive, work hard, and trust in Allah until all his dreams become reality.

Surah Quraish shows the power of Allah SWT and that He is the Giver and Provider, so you should improve your worship of Allah SWT and thank Him for His blessings and ask Him to make it easy for you to obtain the job you desire. You must also know the conditions and requirements of the job you want and you must be careful to acquire all the qualifications because our religion calls us to trust in Allah while doing good work.

Why is Surah Quraish significant in Islam?

There is great importance to Surah Quraish in Islam as it shows that Allah is the Provider and the Benefactor. The Surah was an extension of Surah Al-Fil, and Allah protected His Sacred House from the attack of Abraha Al-Habashi. The Surah also honored the people of Quraish by choosing the Prophet of the End Times from among them, and revealed a Surah in their name. This shows that Allah preferred the Quraish tribe over other Arab tribes in addition to the honor of Hajj and providing water to pilgrims. This is one of the great surah Quraish benefits. The Surah shows the importance of the worship of gratitude and the necessity of thanking Allah for blessings so that they last.

Can Surah Quraish be recited for specific intentions?

This may depend on the type of intentions and the extent to which they are in accordance with Sharia. It is not right to do anything as long as it was not reported from the Prophet; because it may be an innovation in religion. Also, corrupt intentions affect and spoil good deeds, so we must pay attention and know the surah Quraish benefits so that our understanding of the Qur’an and our connection to it increase and so that we realize the correct way to worship Allah according to what He wants from us. You can read the Quran with any good intention you want, but it is not permissible to designate a specific Surah as long as there are no hadiths regarding that.

Is there a specific time when it is recommended to recite Surah Quraish?

There is no specific time when it is recommended to read the Surah more than others. It is preferable to choose the times when you feel more focused so that you are more attentive and learn about the surah Quraish benefits.

Can Surah Quraish be recited for protection?

The entire Quran is considered a cure for the chest and a protection from envy, hatred, arrogance and other destructive diseases of the heart. The Quran also spreads goodness and blessings in the place and instills reassurance, calm and tranquility in the hearts, and protects against all psychological diseases and makes a person deal with his problems in an ideal way.

It is also the primary means of attaining the pleasure of Allah SWT in this world and the hereafter. It is also a source of guidance and righteousness, as Allah SWT said:

«وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّـهِ جَمِيعًا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا وَاذْكُرُوا نِعْمَتَ اللَّـهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ كُنتُمْ أَعْدَاءً فَأَلَّفَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِكُمْ فَأَصْبَحْتُم بِنِعْمَتِهِ إِخْوَانًا وَكُنتُمْ عَلَىٰ شَفَا حُفْرَةٍ مِّنَ النَّارِ فَأَنقَذَكُم مِّنْهَا كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّـهُ لَكُمْ آيَاتِهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُون».

Wa‘taṣimū bi-ḥabli Allāhi jamī‘an wa-lā tafarraqū, wa-udhkurū ni‘mata Allāhi ‘alaykum idh kuntum a‘dā’an fa-allafa bayna qulūbikum fa-aṣbaḥtum bini‘matihi ikhwanan, wa-kuntum ‘alá shafā ḥufratin min al-nār fa-anqadhakum minhā, kadhālika yubayyinu Allāhu lakum āyātihi la‘allakum tahtadūn.

“And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you: when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together, and you became, by His favor, brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided.”

The Qur’an is considered the most important tangible miracle on earth, as it is a source of guidance and benefit for people. Allah SWT challenged the jinn and mankind to produce something like it, but no one was able to do so.
