Surat Al Nasr is one of the most important surahs of the Holy Quran. It is a Madani surah with 3 verses. It is also one of the Surahs of the Mufassal in which the Prophet Muhammad, PBUH, was preferred over other prophets. It was revealed in the ninth year of Hijrah after the Prophet, PBUH, returned from the Battle of Hunayn. Victory was achieved twice, once in Mecca and once in Hunayn.
In this article, Sheikh Saleh Academy provides you with a detailed guide to the benefits of Surah Al Nasr, which is characterized by many benefits and lessons. It was revealed before Surah An-Nur and after Surah Al-Hashr. It is also the last surah of the Quran revealed to the Prophet together and in full.
What is the meaning of Surah Al Nasr?
The reason for naming Surah Al Nasr with this name is that Allah SWT has bestowed upon His Prophet the blessing of victory, and Mecca was conquered. After he migrated from it because of the infidels’ torture and harm to the Muslims, he returned victorious and forgave them and pardoned them, and a large number of people entered Islam, and the religion began to spread widely.
It also contains consolation for the Muslims for the approaching death of the Prophet, as it was mentioned
“When ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked them about the verse: ‘When the victory of Allah has come and the conquest,’ they said it refers to the conquest of cities and palaces. He then asked Ibn ʿAbbās, who replied: ‘Yes, or it is a parable given to Muhammad (PBUH), indicating that his soul was being forewarned of his approaching end.'”
And in the verses, the promise of Allah was fulfilled, as Allah promised His Prophet victory on the day of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, and that was in His saying:
إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُبِينًا
ʾInnā fataḥnā laka fatḥan mubīnan
“Indeed, We have granted you a clear conquest”
This refers to the great benefits of Surat An-Nasr.
Tafseer of Surah Al-Nasr
Allah SWT says:
ʾIḏā jāʾa naṣru Allāhi wal-fatḥu
“When the victory of Allah has come and the conquest.”
The Ayah explains that victory is always from Allah, as He is the One who granted victory to His servant without any fighting, and cast terror and fear into the hearts of the polytheists, and enabled the Muslims to defeat the polytheists, so they succeeded in defeating them. The “Fath” refers to the conquest of Mecca, which occurred in the eighth year of the Hijra, and the Prophet returned to his country, which he loved very much, after the infidels broke their covenant with the Prophet.
This conquest was a clear and obvious conquest that all the Arabs heard about, and despite the harm the infidels caused to the Muslims, when the Prophet met them he said to them what do you think I will do to you, they replied to him and said a noble brother and a noble nephew, so he said to them go you are free, and he said no blame upon you today, may Allah forgive you.
Wa raʾayta al-nāsa yadkhulūna fī dīni Allāhi afwājan
“And you see the people entering into the religion of Allah in multitudes.”
That is, people began to realize that the outcome is for Muhammad, his religion and that his Lord is his supporter. This made them begin to enter the religion of Allah in droves and groups until the ninth year of the Hijra was called the year of delegations due to the large number of delegations that came to the Prophet in order to enter Islam.
Fa-sabbiḥ bi-ḥamdi rabbika wa-staghfirhu
“Then glorify the praises of your Lord and seek His forgiveness.”
After Allah completed his religion, the time of the Prophet’s death approached, so Allah ordered him to increase his glorification of Allah, which is to glorify Allah from all shortcomings and praise Allah for His many blessings and favors, and to seek forgiveness, which is to ask for pardon and forgiveness from Allah SWT. The Prophet used to say a lot (“Subḥānaka Allāhumma rabbana wa biḥamdik Allāhumma ighfir lī”) which means “Glory is to You, O Allah, our Lord, and with Your praise. O Allah, forgive me.”
This indicates that no one will enter Paradise through his deeds, not even the Prophet, PBUH, and that we must say a lot of glorification and seek forgiveness so that Allah may forgive us.
ʾInnahu kāna tawwāban
“Indeed, He is ever Accepting of Repentance.”
Meaning a lot of repentance, and it encourages the infidels to enter the religion, and that although they committed many crimes against Muslims, Allah will forgive them and accept their repentance when they enter the religion. This is one of the many benefits of Surah An-Nasr and that Allah will accept your repentance no matter what you do.

Among the benefits of Surah Al-Nasr is that it shows us that a successful life lies in the satisfaction of Allah SWT, keenness to worship Him, and good obedience to Him because in this way all the wishes you want to achieve will be fulfilled.
This is evident from the saying of Allah SWT “ʾIḏā jāʾa naṣru Allāhi wal-fatḥu” meaning that Allah is the one who will support you no matter how impossible the reasons are, and that you only have to strive, and this indicates the great benefits of Surah Al-Nasr.
Also, among the benefits of Surah Al-Nasr and the benefits of Surah Tin is the emphasis on this principle and that the basis of a successful life is good work because it will last, but if a person reaches the highest ranks in this world but is an unbeliever, then there will be no value to his work.

Faqultu istaghfirū Rabbakum, innahu kāna Ghaffārā. (10) Yursili s-samāʾa ʿalaykum midrārā. (11) Wa-yumdidkum bi-amwālin wa-banīna wa-yajʿal lakum jannātin wa-yajʿal lakum anhārā. (12) Mā lakum lā tarjūna li-Llāhi waqārā. (13)
“And I said, ‘Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. (10) He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers (11) And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers.
