The student also learns the attributes of the letters and some preliminary Tajweed rules, such as the rules of Madd, stopping, and starting. They are also introduced to Tajweed and its importance in reading and reciting the Holy Quran.

“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Allah has His own people among mankind.’ They said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, who are they?’ He said: ‘The people of the Qur’an, the people of Allah and those who are closest to Him.”

There are some important objectives for the Basic Tajweed Course:

To learn the basic principles of the science of Tajweed.
To master the correct Makharij al-Huruf to ensure correct reading.
Learning the rules of Madd with examples from the Holy Quran.
To learn the rules of Noon Sakinah and Tanween, including Izhar, Iqlab, Idgham, and Ikhfa.
To learn the rules of Meem Sakinah, including Izhar Shafawi, Idgham Shafawi, and Ikhfa Shafawi.
Mastering reading the Holy Quran correctly after mastering the rules of reading in the Arabic language.
To know the places of stopping during recitation in terms of correctness, permissibility and disapproval.
To reduce Lahn which is errors in recitation and read the verses without mistakes that corrupt the meaning.
